Booking

  1. How do we get into the studio?

    Our studio manager will be at the studio to welcome you on the day of your booking.

  2. Can I have a look at the studio before booking?

    Yes — ask us to arrange a recce.

  3. Do I have to pay a deposit? Is there a breakages charge?

    No deposit is needed, but any breakages will be added to your invoice.

  4. How do I book, can I reserve a date?

    You can book using our booking form or pencil in a date with the bookings team by phone or email.

  5. Can I extend my booking?

    Yes, when possible — overtime is charged by the hour.

  6. What is your maximum capacity?

    Unit 10: up to 30 seated /40 standing. Unit 12: up to 22 seated / 30 standing.

  7. Can I make a regular booking?

    Yes — just email us with your requirements.

  8. Can I arrive early to set up?

    You can arrive 15 minutes before your booking for no additional charge; earlier arrival can also be arranged.

  9. What is the minimum hire time?

    A minimum of half day (4 hours).

  10. Is there a cleaning fee?

    No, but please leave the studio in the condition you found it to avoid a fee; and please dispose of refuse in the bags provided.

  11. Is there a waiting area?

    There’s a small lobby outside the internal door; there’s also a café in the courtyard.

  12. Can I host my party in the studio?

    Sorry, no — we’re in a semi-residential area, so parties aren’t allowed.

  13. Is the studio available weekends?

    Yes — email us with your requirements.

Travel and Access

  1. Is there parking?

    On-street parking is available for £10 + VAT per day.

  2. Which buses / tubes stop near you?

    Buses 214 and 205 stop 4 mins from the studio (Windsor Terrace bus stop). Old Street and Angel are both around 12 mins walk, see image below for walking directions from Angel. More info also available on our Contact Us page.

  3. Do you have wheelchair access?

    No wheelchair access or facilities.

  4. Is there a lift?

    No.

  5. How many flights of stairs are there?

    We are on the first floor, and there are two flights of 10 steps each.

  6. What time do you open/close?

    Usual hours are 9am – 6pm; however, overtime can be arranged.

  7. How do I gain access during my booking?

    A fob is supplied for access.

  8. Are there bicycle lockup facilities?

    Yes — there are bicycle racks in the courtyard (although we not responsible for security).

Food and Drink

  1. Is tea and coffee included?

    Yes — free tea and coffee is provided.

  2. Why do you only supply oat and soya milks?

    As part of our sustainability policy, only plant milks are provided.

  3. What catering/lunch facilities are available nearby?

    There’s a small café in the courtyard downstairs, and there are several options on City Road.

  4. Are there plates and cutlery?

    Yes, we have cutlery and crockery for up to 36 people.

  5. Do you allow external caterers?

    Yes.

  6. Do you allow cooking inside the venues?

    Yes — vegetarian/vegan only (we have kitchens in both studios).

  7. Can we bring our own alcohol?

    Yes.

Props and Facilities

  1. How many chairs do you have on-site?

    We have seating for 36 people.

  2. What AV facilities do you have?

    OLED TVs with sound via AirPlay/HDMI and AirPlay/BlueTooth Hifi, plus an Owl video conferencing system.

  3. What presentation equipment do you provide?

    Whiteboard (pens/flipchart paper also available).

  4. What furniture do you have?

    Most furniture and props seen in the studios’ images are on site. Get in touch if you want to reserve anything in particular.

  5. Are furniture/props included in the price?

    Yes.

  6. Do you have lighting/camera equipment to hire?

    Yes — see the kit hire page.

  7. What equipment is included in the price?

    Basic gear is included: c-stands, light stands, sandbags, backdrop stands, grip equipment.

  8. Will someone help on the day?

    Yes — a studio manager will greet you and introduce you to the space and facilities.

  9. I am recording sound. Will the studio be quiet?

    Unit 10 is acoustically treated with minimal street noise; Unit 12 is more noisy and not recommended for recording sound.

  10. Can I blackout the studios?

    Yes, both studios can be blacked out.

  11. Is there Wi-Fi?

    Yes. Unit 10 – 1,000mb Community Fibre. Unit 12 — 500mb Virgin Media.

  12. Do you have colorama?

    We have limited colours available at £10/metre.

  13. Are the studios air-conditioned?

    No, but we have two mobile ACs.

  14. Can I use my own lights/equipment?

    Yes.

  15. Is there a printer?

    Yes, we have a mono laser printer.

  16. Do you have a makeup station?

    Yes.

  17. Do you have a waiting/changing room?

    The small lobby outside Unit 10 can be used; Unit 12 can also be hired as a client area / green room.

  18. Is there green screen?

    Yes, we have an unlit green screen available on request.

  19. Are smoke machines allowed?

    No.

  20. Does the studio have a steamer/iron?

    We have a basic iron and ironing board.

  21. Can I play my own music at the studio?

    Yes, via Bluetooth or AirPlay.

Sustainability

  1. What are your sustainability practices?

  • Sustainable LED lighting.

  • Electricity from renewable sources (Ecotricity).

  • Plant-based, biodegradable cleaning products.

  • Recycled printer paper.

  • Sustainable IT infrastructure.
